SARASOTA -- A 16-year-old boy was charged with a felony Friday afternoon after threatening on social media to shoot people at his school, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
Joshua Alexander Wilson, a student at Sarasota High School, posted on Twitter Friday that he “can’t wait to shoot up my school," according to a release. Wilson's Twitter is public and able to be viewed by anyone.
Officers responded to the school but found Wilson was not there, police said.
Officers then went to Wilson’s home, contacted him and brought him to the Sarasota Police Department for further questioning. As a result of the investigation, he was charged with the felony of threatening to throw, project, place, or discharge any destructive device.
