BRADENTON -- A Bradenton man was arrested on multiple charges, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Shane Mason, 44, was arrested at 1 a.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Ninth Street West, Bradenton. According to a report, an officer was sent to a structure fire at 1113 19th Ave. W., Bradenton earlier that night. Witnesses said they saw a large Penske moving truck, driven by Mason, strike a telephone pole, which caused the power lines to be ripped from the home. Police said the lines possibly started the structure fire.
Someone said the truck traveled north on Ninth Street West and, according to a report, an officer found the truck with matching description in the 1800 block of Ninth Street West. The truck pulled into a convenience store parking lot and was instructed by the officer to stop where he was and turn off the vehicle. According to a report, Mason began driving away after being told multiple times to stop. After driving for four blocks, Mason stopped and got out of the truck with his hands above his head.
Mason was charged with accident involving damage to vehicle or property and failing to obey a law enforcement officer's order to stop. According to Manatee County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dave Bristow, Mason was released Sunday from Manatee County jail on his own recognizance.
