BRADENTON -- Officer Carrie Ward, a graduate of Lakewood Ranch High School, has been named Female Officer of the Week by the Bradenton Police Department.
Ward has been a law enforcement officer since 2004 and has served in roles ranging from patrol officer to corrections officer. She was hired by the Bradenton Police Department in May 2010.
After graduating from high school, Ward attended the Manatee Technical Institute Law Enforcement Academy where she received her law enforcement certification. She received an associate of Arts degree in literature from the State College of Florida and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from SCF.
Ward worked as a corrections deputy for the Bradley County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee and as a deputy with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Ward has received training in weapons of mass destruction, instructor techniques, hostage negotiations, firearms, and field training., according to Bradenton police.
Ward, who is currently assigned to the Patrol Division, is tasked with patrolling the Riverwalk in downtown Bradenton. She also helps with training and continuing education classes for current law enforcement officers.
