Manatee deputies use stun gun 3 times to stop 55-year-old burglary suspect

MANATEE -- A 55-year-old male robbery suspect has been arrested by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office at 1:49 p.m. Wednesday in the 6400 block of 14th Street West.

Patrick Kenney, stopped by law enforcement for matching the description of a robbery suspect, provided the name "John" and ran from deputies.

He was ordered to stop after a short foot chase and Tasered when he refused. After the stun gun's cycle was complete, Kenney ran off again, according to the report.

Caught later by a deputy, the suspect was Tasered two more times before complying.

Later identified through a fingerprint hit, Kenney was not the suspect wanted for the robbery but did have a warrant for failure to appear and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction.

He was taken to the Port Manatee jail, according to the report.
