MANATEE -- Five children were removed from a home after a Manatee School for the Arts student brought illegal drugs to the Palmetto school on Oct. 21, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the 12-year-old brought seven grams of methamphetamine, a "dime bag" of cocaine and a marijuana blunt to the school located at 700 Haben Blvd., Palmetto. The boy said he found the drugs in his parents' bedroom.
According to deputies, the drugs were tested and seized. The address of the home was redacted from the sheriff's report.
Child Protective Services was contacted to continue an investigation at the home. Deputies said the parents admitted marijuana use and sales, but not in the presence of the children. They denied using and being in possession of meth or cocaine, according to an incident report. Investigators said some small empty baggies were found in the home but no other drugs.
