Motorcyclist in critical condition after crash in east Manatee

MANATEE -- A 61-year-old motorcyclist is listed in critical condition after colliding with a car late Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At 10:50 p.m., a 2009 Honda Civic was stopped at the stop sign on northbound lane of 37th Street East at intersection with 38th Avenue East and a 2006 Yamaha was heading east on 38th Avenue East when the car failed to see the bike, according to a news release.

The Civic turned left onto 38th Avenue East, crashing into the front of the motorcycle with the front of the car, the report said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Blake Medical Center and is listed in critical condition. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Charges are pending.
