Woman's car catches fire after dispute over ownership

BRADENTON -- A car caught on fire after the owner had it towed when she had an argument with her ex-boyfriends's family over who actually owned the car, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

At 5:12 p.m. Friday, the car in question caught fire in the 200 block of 15th Avenue West in Bradenton, according to a police report.

Earlier, the car had been towed there after the woman had the argument with her ex-boyfriend's family over its ownership.

"It was dropped off by tow truck and then about 30 minutes later, it caught on fire," Bradenton Fire Marshall Kenneth Langston said.

The fire has been ruled suspicious and is still under investigation, he said.

The vehicle was towed from the incident location and detectives and crime-scene investigators were called out to the scene.

Bradenton police and fire departments are working together to investigate.
