Truck with 36,000 pounds of Crisco inside stolen in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG -- A tractor-trailer carrying 36,000 pounds of Crisco was stolen in St. Petersburg this past weekend, according to St. Petersburg police.

The truck was reported stolen Sunday morning from Coastal Towing, 2390 118th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, according to a news release.

"Inside the trailer was approximately 36,000 pounds of Crisco sticks destined for deliver to the Public distribution center in Lakeland," police said.

The stolen tractor was a red 2005 Volvo, with Florida tag 52393P and had the business name of "NS Express LLC, Bowling Green, KY, 42104" on both sides of the cab. The trailer is a white Hyundai with Florida tag 4450PP.

"In addition to the theft of the tractor-trailer, another trailer was entered which contained boxes from the Amazon distribution center in Ruskin. A number of boxes were opened and their contents removed, but at the time of the report it could not be determined exactly what items were stolen," police said.
