MANATEE -- A man was arrested on multiple charges Tuesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Robert Daniel Copeland, 44, was arrested at 9:39 a.m. Tuesday in the 7500 block of Commerce Boulevard. According to a report, officers searched for a stolen U-Haul, the driver of which was later identified as Copeland. Deputies followed Copeland as he turned into the 1000 block of Commerce Industrial Park and drove around a building before stopping and asking someone "if anyone sold TVs around here."
According to a report, Copeland was taken down by gunpoint after he got out of the vehicle in the 7500 block of Commerce Boulevard. No injuries were reported.
Deputies found two needles and a spoon in Copeland's pants pocket. Copeland told officers he used them for pills, according to a report. It was later revealed that Copeland's driver's license was not valid due to failure to pay suspension. According to the sheriff's office, Copeland told deputies that he knew his license is not good. Copeland was charged with motor vehicle theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and knowingly driving with a suspended license.
Copeland was being held in Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $2,120, according to the sheriff's website.
