Palmetto man arrested on 3 charges after confronting law officer

PALMETTO — A Palmetto ma has been arrested on three charges, according to the Palmetto Police Department.

Noe Mazariegos-Deleon, 22, was arrested at 4:57 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of 13th Street West, Palmetto. He was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer without violence and contempt of court, according to a report.

According to police, an officer was investigating a suspicious vehicle in the middle of the street when Mazariegos-Deleon walked up to him with his child and told the officer he just wanted to get home in the vehicle that didn’t have a tag.

The officer asked Mazariegos-Deleon to step off the roadway for his and his child’s safety. Mazariegos-Deleon cooperated before approaching the officer again, this time without his child, according to a report.

After the officer asked Mazariegos-Deleon to leave the roadway, Mazariegos-Deleon began to yell profanities while advancing toward the officer, according to the report. He shoved the officer’s hands away when the officer tried to arrest him, then ran but was soon caught and arrested.

Mazariegos-Deleon was released from Manatee County jail Sunday on bonds totaling $1,500.
