SARASOTA -- A man has been charged after investigators say he stabbed a 24-year-old Sarasota man, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
Calvin J. White, 28, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder hours after the incident occurred.
At 1:21 a.m. Saturday, deputies were called to the Garden Grove Apartments in the 5600 block of Granada Drive in Sarasota to reports of a stabbing, according to a news release.
When they arrived, deputies said they found the victim with a stab wound to his chest.
The victim was flown to a local trauma center where he was listed in critical condition.
White is currently being held at the Sarasota County jail.
He was released from a Florida prison in June 2010 after serving about six months of an 18-month sentence for two counts of trafficking stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, depriving officer of means of protection and resisting an officer with violence.
