MANATEE — A 37-year-old Bradenton man has been charged with unlawful sex with a 17-year-old.
Juan Miguel Saez was arrested after being found in bed with the minor at a halfway house on Tuesday, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
Saez was in the Manatee County jail Tuesday subject to a $250,000 bond, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office website.
The victim’s mother called the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office on Monday to report her daughter was missing, according to a sheriff’s office arrest report.
The mother reportedly consulted her daughter’s journal and discovered she was corresponding with an unknown man and discussing moving out of her mother’s residence.
Investigating deputies reportedly discovered the teen had been hanging out with an older man who lived in a halfway house at at 2106 26th Ave. E. near Manatee Glens who had a low-rider bicycle and a brown bicycle.
A deputy was reportedly let into the halfway house and knocked on Saez’s bedroom door where he found Saez and the victim in bed.
The deputy interviewed the suspect and victim separately.
The victim told the deputy she had met Saez a few months ago and as their relationship changed from friendship to boyfriend-girlfriend they had had sex.
Saez reportedly first told the deputy they did not have sex and then admitted it when told the victim’s story. Saez reportedly told the deputy he thought the victim was 18 years old.
