BRADENTON -- Someone broke into an apartment at Bradenton Village late Tuesday, poured bleach in several locations and turned on the water in the bathroom tub, causing a flood, Bradenton police said.
A downstairs neighbor called police about 1:56 a.m. after she saw water coming in from her ceiling. She also reported hearing a banging sound from upstairs at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report.
"Once BPD arrived it was discovered someone forced their way into the residence and ransacked the first floor of the apartment and poured bleach in several areas of the residence," the report states. "They also filled the downstairs tub up with water and left it on, causing the flood."
The apartment's tenant was not home at the time of the incident, police said.
The break-in happened in an apartment in the 300 block of 16th Avenue West.
