BRADENTON -- A motorist who police say was driving drunk drove through a construction zone and crashed on Cortez Road early Tuesday, according to Bradenton police.
In the crash, which happened about 1:52 a.m. at the intersection with 43rd Street West, the driver was ejected. However, he was managed to run away, according to police.
An officer chased the man and arrested him. Suffering from numerous facial and head injuries, the man was taken to a hospital for treatment.
A DUI investigation was pending, and charges are being sent to the state attorney's office for review, according to police.
