ST. PETERSBURG -- A 22-year-old Sarasota man was killed early Tuesday while driving too fast for the conditions on an I-275 exit ramp in south Petersburg, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The man, whose identity has been withheld pending notification of family, was driving a 2001 Pontiac coupe north on I-275 around 4 a.m. While exiting at the 31st Street South ramp, troopers said, he lost control of the car in a right-hand curve and collided with a guardrail.
Nor wearing a seatbelt, the man was ejected on impact. He died at the scene, troopers said.
Alcohol was not suspected, according to the FHP report.
