MANATEE -- A man released from prison last month after doing time for raping a teenage girl was arrested Wednesday and charged with raping another girl, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's office.
Bed Xavier, 21, was released from prison Aug. 18, after serving eight months in prison. Last year he pleaded no contest to unrelated charges of felony battery for having sex with a 14-year-old girl and carrying a concealed weapon. He was sentenced to little more than 13 months in prison with credit for time served, according to court and prison records.
He is on probation for the gun charge, according to the sheriff's office.
Sheriff's deputies began investigating Xavier anew after a 15-year-girl told authorities Tuesday she twice had sex with Xavier, according to a news release.
Deputies set up a sting operation, and Xavier reportedly made "several admissions" to having a sex with the girl in text messages monitored by deputies.
"During that messaging the suspect also solicited the victim to engage in additional sex acts. He then arranged the time and the place for that rendezvous, also via text messaging," the report states.
Deputies arrested Xavier when he went to that location Wednesday.
During a search of Xavier's home, deputies seized several electronic devices as evidence, according to the report.
Xavier is being held without bond at the Manatee County jail. He faces two counts of lewd and lascivious battery, one count use of a computer to solicit a child to commit a sex act and one count of traveling to solicit a child to commit a sex act.
