CLEARWATER -- The man and woman seen on videotape using a child to help steal items from Clearwater Beach businesses have been arrested.
According to Clearwater Police, Julio Angel Torres, 31, and Janet M. Soto, 37, were taken into custody at the Sunrise Bowling Center on Martin Luther King Street in St. Petersburg Tuesday evening.
The two Kissimmee residents are accused of using a 10-year-old boy as a pawn in a pair of robberies.
Police received an anonymous tip about the couple's whereabouts on Tuesday.
The two were arrested and charged with two counts of grand theft, burglary, credit card fraud and felony child neglect. Torres also faces a charge of violation of probation.
The son who was seen on video helping them steal and the daughter, 2, seen in the video in a baby stroller, have both been placed into custody of the Department of Children and Families.
The suspects' 2006 Acura was seized, as was $575 in cash and two purses with stolen IDs and credit cards.
The suspects are accused of stealing items from Ron Jon Surf Shop Sunday and using the boy to help stash them into a baby stroller. They also are accused of stealing two purses from a storage room at Hooters, where the boy brought the purses to the adults as they waited.
Authorities said the investigation was ongoing and more charges could be coming.
