EAST MANATEE -- Two masked gunmen Tuesday forced their way into an East Manatee residence and demanded a safe and marijuana, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The home invasion happened at 3:50 p.m. in the 4300 block of Drake Boulevard, just off Lockwood Ridge Road in East Manatee. There were four children, as well as an adult, in the home.
The gunmen and a third suspect, who was driving, backed a car into the driveway of the home. The gunmen knocked on the door and asked the juvenile if his mother was home. He said no, and tried to close the door but the gunmen forced their way inside, according to a news release.
The suspects immediately went to a back room where an adult man was asleep.
"The suspects demanded the safe and the weed. The suspects then ransacked the bedroom and after finding nothing ... they fled the residence in the vehicle toward Lockwood Ridge Road," the report states.
No one was injured in the incident.
