Homeless man charged with burglarizing Bradenton business

MANATEE -- A homeless man was arrested on a burglary charge after deputies found him carrying a bag of items taken from a Bradenton business, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies stopped Donald Zes, 40, about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday after they saw him in the 6700 block of 14th Street West riding a bicycle without property lighting. As he was stopped, Zes tried to throw aside a bag containing expensive watches and a GPS device, according to a report.

Further investigation linked Zes and the items to Da Aranas Salon, 5868 14th St. W., where deputies found a glass door that had been smashed. The business owner confirmed the items in the bag had been stolen from his business, according to the sheriff's office.

Zes was arrested and the items were returned to the business owner, according to a report.

Zes was being held on $7,500 bond at the Manatee County jail.
