FHP: Woman, 52, killed by hit-and-run driver in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A 52-year-old woman trying to cross 15th Street East in Manatee County was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Thursday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

About 6:17 a.m. Teresa L. Kidd of Bradenton "failed to observe oncoming traffic" and was struck by a dark-colored sedan as she stepped into the southbound lane of 15th Street East near the intersection with Magellan Drive. FHP said in a news release The driver did not stop and was last seen traveling south of 15th Street East.

Other information about the driver and the vehicle was unknown.

Kidd was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Kidd is the second person to be killed by a hit-and-run driver in less than a week.

Shadeed Brandian Wright, was struck and killed while trying to cross U.S. 41/14th Street West in Bradenton on Sunday. Several vehicles struck Wright, but none of the drivers stopped, according to FHP.
