Despite being hit with stun gun, domestic battery suspect flees Manatee deputies

MANATEE -- Deputies were looking for a domestic battery suspect who managed to escape despite being hit with a stun gun early Thursday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 3:38 a.m., deputies responding to a report of a fight at the Sanctuary Condominiums, 5400 26th St. W., Bradenton, found the suspect and his victim in their vehicle. "It appeared the victim was in distress because she was screaming for help," a news release states.

A deputy ordered the suspect, later identified as Ricky Taylor, 29, out of the vehicle, which is when Taylor fled, according to the report.

The deputy fired his stun gun at Taylor but was unsuccessful in stopping him. "It appears at least one probe struck the suspect because his shirt was found with a small spot of blood on it," the release states.
