Man arrested after breaking into ex-girlfriend's condo, trying to attack her husband in Manatee

MANATEE -- A 31-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday, after he broke into his ex-girlfriend's condo while she, her husband and their two children were sleeping, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 2:47 a.m., Dustin L. Soos forced open a sliding glass door to a condo in the 900 block of Whitman Drive, Sarasota, and confronted the woman and her husband, according to a news release.

The husband tried to go upstairs to "avoid any conflict with" Soos, but Soos tried several times to punch him. When the woman tried to block his path, he shoved her aside and she scraped her elbows, according to the sheriff's office.

The woman then called 9-1-1 and told Soos several times to leave.

Responding deputies arrived and arrested Soos.

The woman later admitted to deputies "to having a relationship with the male suspect but broke it off recently," the release states.

Soos faces charges of burglary with assault and battery; domestic battery; and criminal mischief. He was being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.
