Bradenton bank robbed; manager stuck with syringe

MANATEE -- A 52-year-old female bank manager at Iberia Bank on 14th Street W. was stabbed in the arm with a syringe during an armed bank robbery Friday.

The bank robber got away with an undetermined amount of cash, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

The incident occurred at 4 p.m. at 5844 14th St. W. when a suspect, described as a 5-foot-7 man weighing about 130 pounds, entered the bank wearing a blue motorcycle helmet.

The suspect asked for assistance from the bank manager. As she was helping him he pulled out a syringe and stuck her in the arm. The suspect jumped behind the counter and emptied a drawer with an unknown amount of money. He then fled the bank going north and is still at large, the report states.

The manager was taken to Blake Medical Center with minor injuries as a precaution, the report states.
