Detectives obtain murder warrant for suspect in Bradenton shooting

MANATEE -- Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for a man they say shot and killed another man April 30 after a dispute at a Bradenton strip bar, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Earl Scott has not been arrested, and detectives were seeking the public's help in finding him.

Scott, 32, is accused of following Ruben Harris, 29, from the DaVinci's nightclub, 105 Cortez Road, to a Shell gas station at the intersection of 301 Boulevard East and Ninth Street East, where he shot and killed. Prior to the shooting, Harris and Scott had gotten into an altercation over a woman, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies found Harris dead about 3:20 a.m. April 30.

The warrant, obtained Monday, charges Scott with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He had earlier been listed as a person of interest in the case after detectives released security camera footage in an effort to locate and identify him.

Anyone with information on Scott's whereabouts can call the sheriff's office at 941-747-3011, ext 2159, or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.

Scott's death was the eighth homicide in Manatee County this year.
