Former Pinellas teacher's aide charged with having sex with disabled student, 16

CLEARWATER -- A former Pinellas County teacher's aide had been arrested on charges of carrying on a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old disabled student.

Artia Patrice Davis, 30, of Clearwater is accused of unlawful sexual activity with a minor during a period that began last November. She was arrested Monday by Clearwater police, who say they found the alleged victim lying in her bed.

According to police, rumors surfaced that Davis, who was a teacher's aide at Hamilton Disston School in Gulfport, was having a relationship with the student. Pinellas County Schools and Child Protection Investigations investigated, and Davis resigned in March.

Monday, Clearwater police assisted in the CPI portion of the investgation. When they arrived at Davis' apartment, the alleged victim was there.

Davis was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail. She was released Tuesday morning on bail.
