Fatal home invasion investigated in Pinellas Park

PINELLAS PARK -- The Pinellas Park Police Department is investigating a fatal home invasion.

According to authorities, 39-year-old David Rhea was shot in his home on the corner of 94th Avenue North and 58th Street, just after 3 a.m.

Officials said Rhea's mother was in the home at the time of the shooting. She ran to a neighbor's home to call 911.When officers arrived, the neighbor was performing first aid on Rhea.

Officials said Rhea was shot twice during the home invasion. Rhea was rushed to an area hospital, where he later died.

Officers said the investigation is ongoing and little information is known right now.

"(We have) no information as far as suspects,'' said Pinellas Park Police Sgt. Brian Unmisig. "Investigators are looking at several theories right now.''
