Englewood blast injures one person, blows out windows in neighboring houses

ENGLEWOOD -- One person was flown to Blake Medical Center trauma center after being injured in a blast at an Englewood home that blew out windows in neighboring houses early this morning.

The explosion occurred when chemicals were added to start a fire in a fire pit, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office reported.

The incident occurred at 1:19 a.m.

An investigation is being conducted by the sheriff’s office and the state fire marshal.
