MANATEE -- A gunshot was fired but no one was seriously injured during a mugging in Bradenton late Thursday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 10:50 p.m., a 44-year-old man was walking home from work in the 1600 block of 38th Avenue West, when two men "jumped out from the darknes," a news release states.
One attacker wrestled with the victim, while the other struck him several times with a rifle. They took the man's wallet and ran to a dark-colored four-door car, possibly a black Honda, according to the sheriff's office.
Several people heard the struggle and as they ran toward the commotion, the suspect with the gun fired a round, according to the report. The suspects then fled westbound on 38th Avenue West.
The victim suffered minor abrasions and was treated by paramedics.
