Sarasota deputy shoots man who pulled gun

SARASOTA -- A Sarasota County sheriff's deputy shot a man while serving an eviction notice Thursday morning, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said.

At about 10:18 a.m., the civil deputy arrived at a duplex in the 2600 block of Ringling Boulevard. The man who answered the door had a weapon, a media release said.

The deputy shot the man “in response to the threat,” the release said.

The release didn’t identify the deputy nor the wounded man.

The man was ta ken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and was reported in stable condition
