Manatee woman victimized by armed robber

MANATEE - A 35-year-old woman was the victim of a strong armed robbery at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The incident occurred in the 600 block of 57th Avenue East in Manatee County.

The victim left her home and was walking west on the south side of 57th Avenue East toward the store on the southwest corner of 5th Street and 57th Avenue East when a suspect, who is known as “P-Thug,” was walking east on the same sidewalk, according to a sheriff’s office report.

The victim was counting out her money, which totaled $60, while the suspect, who is 6-foot, 200 pounds, approached her, according to the report.

The suspect grabbed the money out of her hand with his right hand and kept walking east on 57th Avenue. The victim gave chase and told the suspect to give her the money back or she would call 911. The suspect stated that he had guns and then ran south between the duplexes, the report states.

The victim was not injured during the incident and refused EMS. The victim has observed the suspect in the area previously and has overheard him being called P-Thug, the report states.

The victim was initially not going to make a report but was urged to do so by her boyfriend.
