BRADENTON -- A motorcyclist was struck by a van on Cortez Road Tuesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
At about 11 a.m., a man riding a purple Kawasaki was heading east on Cortez Road in the inside lane when a white Toyota van made a left turn to enter Wal-Mart.
The van failed to stop. The motorcyclist tried “evasive action” as he swerved his bike to avoid an impact, but the motorcyclist was struck by the right side of the approaching van, trooper Cheryl Fronczak said.
The motorcyclist was taken to Blake Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Fronczak said.
The driver of the van will be charged with improper left-hand turn in front of approaching traffic.
The van and motorcycle both sustained about $6,000 in damage, Fronczak said.
