Man robbed in Ellenton parking lot

ELLENTON -- A 37-year-old man told Manatee County Sheriff's investigators he was robbed in the parking lot of a business in the 4900 block of 17th Street East, Ellenton, about 5:15 a.m. today.

The victim was walking to his vehicle in the parking lot when he was approached by two men, one armed with a knife and the other armed with a semi-automatic handgun, the sheriff's office reported.

The robbers demanded money and searched the victim's pockets, taking an undisclosed sum of money and fleeing on foot towards the Pilot Gas Station. Attempts to locate the suspects were unsuccessful. There were no injuries during the incident. The robbers were described as being in their 30s. One wore a black shirt and jeans. The other wore a red sweater and khaki pants.
