Police dog chases down auto theft suspect in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A 25-year-old woman was chased down by a police dog after she tried to flee the scene of a crash, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 3:14 p.m., a deputy saw a car driven by Krystal L. Hardin in the 1100 block of 61st Avenue East. Suspecting that the car was stolen and that Hardin was wanted on a warrant, the deputy turned and started a pursuit, according to a news release.

Hardin crashed the car into a ditch in the 1000 block of 61st Avenue East, and fled on foot. The deputy released a police dog, who chased down and bit Hardin on the arm.

Hardin was arrested.

She faces charges of auto theft, fleeing to elude, obstruction, driving without a license and probation violations.

The car was recovered and returned to the owner.
