Man, daughter robbed in Bradenton home invasion

MANATEE -- A Bradenton man and his 9-year-old daughter escaped injury during a home invasion robbery late Thursday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 9 p.m., the man and girl had just arrived at their home in the 3200 block of 17th Street East, Bradenton, when two suspects forced them inside at gunpoint. The suspects told the girl to sit on the floor while they took the man into the kitchen and tied his hands with a cell phone charger cord, according to a news release.

One of the suspects began leading the man into a bedroom, but he was able to free himself and a struggle ensued. At that point, the second suspect came over and placed a gun to the man's head and threatened to kill him, according to the report.

At that point, the girl ran out of the house to a neighbor's to call 911.

The suspects rummaged through drawers in the kitchen and bedroom, television stand and under a mattress.

"The suspects were apparently not looking for money as they left over $100 in cash on the living room floor," the report states.

The suspects fled the area, possibly in a white SUV, with the victim's wallet and cell phone.

Investigators did find evidence of drugs in the house, according to the sheriff's office.

Neither the man nor his daughter were hurt.
