Copper stolen from southern Manatee County site

MANATEE — There is a favorite place where thieves go to steal copper because they have gone there four times in the last few weeks.

The place is underneath the street lights at Honore Avenue and Lockwood Ridge Road, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report. In the latest incident, approximately 1,000 feet of copper wire was taken from the ground underneath the street lights, the report states.

There are no suspects or suspect vehicles or evidence from the scene, the report concludes.
