Five injured after three-car collision on Interstate 75

MANATEE -- Five people were injured after three cars were involved in a crash on southbound Interstate 75, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

At about 9:15 p.m., two Toyota’s and one Chrysler collided near mile marker 217. The driver in one Toyota was transported to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center and the four occupants in the other Toyota were transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, trooper Barbara Ehrhart said.

The driver of the Chrysler was not injured.

The crash is under investigation, Ehrhart said.
