Woman, 18, arrested in connection to robbery of Manatee man, 71

MANATEE -- An 18-year-old woman was arrested Thursday in connection with the robbery Saturday afternoon of a 71-year-old man at his home, the sheriff’s office reports.

The Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Task Force located Katelyn M. Kemp walking in the 4600 block of Country Oaks Boulevard, and she was arrested without incident.

Kemp is being held without bond at the Manatee County Jail.

The victim, who lives in the 6800 block of Fairview Terrace, received a phone call at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday from an acquaintance who asked him to give her a ride, a media release said.

He picked her up, and then stopped by his house to change his clothes, the release said.

The suspect followed him into his bedroom and sprayed him in the face with pepper spray, the release said, then took his wallet and phone off a table and ran out of the house.

A neighbor saw her run from the house and get into a waiting vehicle that fled the area, the release said.
