MANATEE -- A traffic stop that nearly resulted in a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputy being struck by a vehicle today was followed by a pursuit and an arrest.
Christian Kaiser, 20, had been stopped in the 3300 block of 51st Avenue Terrace West at 11:22 a.m. in order for deputies to check on his Florida driver license, according to a sheriff’s office report.
After a deputy approached Kaiser’s vehicle on foot, Kaiser took off and swerved into another lane of traffic, giving another deputy, who was in an unmarked car, the impression he was going to be hit, the report added.
A sheriff’s office K-9 unit then pursued Kaiser, which ended two minutes later with a K-9 apprehension, the report stated.
