MANATEE -- A 23-year-old Bradenton man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg about 7:33 p.m. Thursday, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported this morning.
Deputies had responded to Desoto Village Apartments just prior to the shooting for a fight between juveniles.
A deputy was parked just down the road from Desoto Village in the 3800 block of 5th Street East, when the shooting call went out. The deputy reported he could hear the shots and responded back to the area to investigate further, a sheriff's press release said.
No one came forward and deputies could not locate any victims. A short time later Manatee Memorial Hospital called and reported they were treating a male with a single gunshot wound to the leg, the sheriff's
Deputies responded to the hospital and met with the victim. According to the victim, he was at Desoto Village Apartments and heard a fight break out.
The victim said he ran outside to see what was going on and sustained a single gunshot wound to the left leg. He said he saw two males and one was armed with a gun.
