MANATEE -- A 19-year-old Bradenton woman sustained severe injuries and was flown by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg on Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 26th Street West and 55th Avenue West.
The woman, driving a 1992 Ford Mustang, was waiting at a stop sign and facing west on 55th Avenue West , anticipating a left turn onto 26th Street West at 7:55 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
At the same time, a 1999 Dodge pickup truck driven by an 18-year-old Bradenton man was traveling north in the outside lane of 26th Street West, approaching the intersection of 55th Avenue West, the report states.
The woman emerged from the stop sign and drove into the northbound inside lane of 26th Street West, causing the Dodge’s front to strike her vehicle’s left side, the report states.

No skid marks were discovered at the scene, the report adds.
Due to the severity of her injuries, the woman was listed in critical condition at the medical center this morning, the report stated.
