MANATEE — Sheriff's deputies were looking for a 16-year-old boy who skipped school on Wednesday and then sent his family at least one text message indicating he might hurt himself, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Before leaving for school Wednesday morning Eddie Baltazar told his father that he didn't want to go to school, and he's "not coming back," a news release states.
After Eddie didn't return home from school Wednesday evening, his father called Southeast High School and confirmed he hadn't been in school.
Later, Eddie sent two text messages, one indicating that he was sad, and another stating that he needed time alone, according to the sheriff's office. Detectives tried to call the telephone, but there was no answer.
Eddie is Hispanic, stands 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue shorts and a white T-shirt.
Anyone with information about Eddie's whereabouts can call the sheriff's office at (941) 747-3011.
