MANATEE -- A 30-year-old woman was found with more than 11 grams of prescription pills after deputies found her sick in a parking lot Thursday evening, the sheriff’s office reports.
Deputies responded to a disabled vehicle in the 1700 block of 51st Avenue East at about 8 p.m. when they found Sarah Barrett.
According to her arrest report, her pupils were small, her speech was slurred and she told deputies she was feeling hot and overheated.
While deputies waited for Emergency Medical Services to arrive, Barrett consented to a search of her vehicle, the report said.
The search revealed a bottle with 16 Oxycodone pills and an empty prescription bottle in her name dated April 11 for 200 Oxycodone pills, the report stated, Deputies also found another prescription pill bottle that contained five more Oxycodone pills and four Xanax pills.
Barrett couldn’t provide the name of a doctor who gave her the prescription and blamed the pills found in her purse on a woman she referred to as a “pill head” who fled once deputies arrived. The report said no other females were seen in the parking lot when deputies arrived.
She was taken to the Manatee County jail after being released from a local hospital. She has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance and distribution. She is being held on a $15,000 bond.
