Police dog catches, bites Bradenton burglary suspect

MANATEE -- A juvenile was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he was bitten by a police dog, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 1 p.m. deputies were investigating a burglary in the 2200 block of Fifth Street East, Bradenton, when witnesses advised them that their home, in the 500 block of 22nd Terrace East, also had been burglarized.

Deputies were advised that the suspect was in the 500 block of 22nd Terrace East holding two pillow cases, according to a news release.

As deputies approached, the suspect fled behind a residence and dropped the pillow cases before jumping a fence.

A K-9 apprehended the suspect and bit the suspect on the right arm, according to the report.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center for treatment of his injury.
