Palmetto police charge man with firing gun

PALMETTO -- A 24-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly fired a gun at a Palmetto apartment complex, according to the Palmetto Police Department.

Officers were on patrol at the Oakridge Apartments on Monday evening when they heard a gunshot coming from behind the apartments in the 600 block of 14th Street West. The officers spoke to a witness who pointed out for them the apartment that the shooter had run into, according to a news release.

Officers entered the apartment and identified and arrested Feliciano Gomez.

Officers recovered a .22-caliber revolver and a shotgun from the apartment, according to police.

Gomez was being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $30,500. He faces charges of discharging a firearm in public and failing to answer court summonses for charges of attempted armed burglary and possession of marijuana.
