Former Manatee deputy charged with murder booked in Sarasota

MANATEE — Robert Taylor, the former Manatee County Sheriff’s Office corrections deputy charged with second-degree murder, has been booked into Sarasota County jail where he awaits trial, according to the sheriff’s office.

Taylor, 55, was arrested Feb. 8 in Gravois Mills, Mo., and was held in the Morgan County, Mo., jail before being brought to Florida on Feb.11.

He was booked into Manatee County jail first and then transferred to Sarasota, said sheriff’s office spokesman Dave Bristow.

“He will just be housed down there,” Bristow said, and face trial in Manatee County.

The trial is expected to begin March 18, according to the Manatee County Clerk of Courts.

Robert Taylor is charged in the September 2008 death of his wife. Pamela Taylor, 63, was found dead in the swimming pool of their home in the 7300 block of Caladesia Drive in southern Manatee, authorities say.
