MANATEE — A 16-year-old boy was arrested after a witness saw him break into his brother's car in Palmetto, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 8:35 p.m. Saturday, the suspect broke into a car in the 3200 block of Sixth Avenue West, in the Bayou Estates neighborhood. The witness and his brother called 911 and gave chase on foot but lost the suspect, according to a news release.

Responding deputies set up a perimeter, and K-9 police dogs were able to track the suspect to an area of mangroves on the southeast corner of 33rd Street West and Sixth Avenue West. There, the witness identified the teen as the suspect, according to the sheriff's office.
