FHP: Bradenton man driving around with kids caught with 40 pounds of pot

SARASOTA -- A Bradenton man was found with about 40 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle Wednesday afternoon after leading Florida Highway Patrol in a chase on Interstate 75, the agency reports.

Rhoan Drummond was spotted at about 3 p.m. in a 2003 Buick northbound near mile marker No. 195 in Sarasota County traveling at a high speed, a media release stated.

Drummond refused to stop and partially entered the median, causing the left corner of his vehicle to collide with a construction barrel, the release said.

He continued northbound to mile marker No. 203, where he surrendered without further incident, according to the release; he also had three small children inside the vehicle.

A search revealed the marijuana in the vehicle, in addition to several thousand dollars in cash.

Drummond was taken to the Sarasota County jail on charges of drug possession, fleeing to elude, driving with a revoked license and child endangerment. He was being held without bond.
