Sheriff's dog tracks down juvenile in vehicle burglary cases

MANATEE -- A juvenile was arrested early Sunday on vehicle burglary charges after a Manatee County sheriff's dog tracked him down.

Sheriff's detectives responded to a vehicle burglary that occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday in Holiday Heights, according to a press release. They established a perimeter around the area of 5000 21st Street West. A K9 unit responded and began tracking.

The suspect was found, but fled on foot into a shed, resisting the detectives' efforts to arrest him, according to the report. The K9 unit relocated him and apprehended the suspect.

Numerous vehicle burglaries were identified in the area, the report stated. The suspect was charged and transported to Juvenile Detention Center.
