Teen charged with Bradenton armed robbery

MANATEE — A 15-year-old boy was arrested after he led deputies on a chase while driving a car that had been reported stolen, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy about 4:45 p.m. Friday spotted the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop in the 6400 block of Seventh Street West. The pursuit had gone on for about 30 seconds when the driver bailed out while the vehicle was still moving. The vehicle crashed into a wooden fence in the 6400 block of Eighth Street Court West, according to a news release.

The 15-year-old suspect, who was slightly injured, was arrested and taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where deputies say he made incriminating statements. After treatment, he was charged with armed robbery, grand theft and fleeing to elude and taken to the juvenile detention center.

Four other juveniles in the car were released to their parents.

Deputies say the driver was one of two suspects who on Wednesday robbed at gunpoint a woman of her car keys and car in the parking lot of Target, 6150 14th St. W.
