Suspect in Bradenton home invasion arrested

MANATEE -- A suspect in a home invasion robbery Thursday has been arrested, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators determined Jefferey Weber of Lehigh Acres was a suspect, and the victim identified him in a photographic lineup as the man who robbed her about 4:30 p.m. in the 7700 block of Plantation Circle, according to a news release.

Weber was arrested by Lee County deputies about 11:30 p.m. on an unrelated obstruction charge. As he was being processed at the Lee County jail, he was served with an arrest warrant charging him in the Manatee case, according to the Manatee sheriff's office.

The victim told Manatee deputies that Weber knocked on her door and said he was looking for someone with the same first name as her boyfriend, according to a report.

The victim told Weber he was not home and that he could come back or wait outside, the report said. At that point the suspect told the victim he had a gun and threatened to hurt her.

He then pushed the door open, walked inside and sat on the couch, according to the report. The victim called her boyfriend and the suspect ran out the door and fled in a vehicle.

The report stated as the suspect fled the scene he took a key to the residence with him from a deadbolt.
